YOGA IN BALI

The Best Yoga Shalas in Canggu and Beyond — From my Mat to Yours

YOGA

7/7/2025 - 4 min read

Hi, I'm Bernadette — founder of The Elephant’s Nest and long-time yoga lover (though I still fall out of tree pose sometimes). If you’re heading to Bali and wondering where to practice yoga in Canggu, I’ve got you covered. Bali is a magical place to practice — where incense, jungle breezes and the sound of distant waves are all part of your flow. From quiet Yin to strong Power Flows, here are the shalas I go to myself — plus a few worth the scooter ride.

🧘
MY FAVORITE YOGA STUDIOS IN CANGGU

1. The Practice

The Practice is iconic — and for good reason. Their stunning bamboo dome creates the perfect atmosphere for traditional Hatha Yoga. Classes are slow, meditative and often held at sunset — it’s a magical place to deepen your practice.

2. Serenity Yoga

One of my longtime favorites. Serenity Yoga offers a warm, community-centered space with a wide variety of daily classes — Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, even Acro and Aerial. It’s also one of the most affordable studios in Bali, perfect for long-stay travelers and nomads on a budget. The space is relaxed and welcoming, and the teachers are lovely. You’ll find regulars, first-timers, and everything in between.

My tip: After class, I love walking across the street to Zin Café — they have great coffee, a beautiful garden and one of the best co-working setups in Canggu. The Wi-Fi is fast, the vibe is calm and their cookies? Dangerously good.

3. The Path

Tucked away in rice fields just 6 minutes from The Nest, The Path is a little sanctuary — and one of my absolute favorite spots. The space is serene, minimal and surrounded by green.
If you’re into slow, mindful practices like Yin, Somatic Flow, or Sound Journeys, you’ll love it here. But if you only take one class — go to the 10:15 am Vinyasa Flow. It’s one of the best I’ve ever taken in Bali, with thoughtful sequencing, creative transitions and deep, grounding energy. I go regularly and always leave lighter.

4. Samadi Bali

Literally steps from The Nest — Samadi is our magical next-door neighbor. It feels like a mini retreat center with Ashtanga, Yin, and sound healing classes, often guided by amazing international teachers.
But there’s more. Their organic café is one of my favorite spots to refuel after class, with creative smoothie bowls and seriously delicious vegan chocolate you’ll definitely want to try. Sundays are for the Samadi Market, where you’ll find everything from organic veggies and handmade jewelry to someone playing guitar barefoot under a tree.
Oh, and if your fridge is looking sad? Their organic mini market has you covered — think fresh fruit, healthy snacks and the kind of almond milk that actually tastes good.

5. Empowered Yoga @ B Work

When I’m in the mood for a strong, sweaty flow that gets me out of my head and into my body — B Work is my go-to. It’s home to Bali’s first Power Yoga studio, tucked upstairs from a sleek co-working space.
The studio is bright, modern and offers a great view over Canggu — plus, the teachers bring serious energy. I love going there for their fiery sequences and that perfect mix of challenge and relax.

BONUS PICKS BEYOND CANGGU

Intuitive Flow – Ubud

It might sound a little crazy to hop on your scooter before sunrise and head all the way up to Ubud for a yoga class — but trust me, it’s 1000% worth it.
Intuitive Flow is one of the most peaceful, soul-soothing places I’ve ever practiced. The shala is tucked away in the hills of Ubud, surrounded by trees and birdsong. And the views? OMG...
The teachers are calm and deeply present, the energy is soft and sacred. And after class? World-class coffee is waiting just down the hill.
Love this place — and I think you might too.

BACK AT THE NEST

After a grounding class or a sweaty flow, there's nothing better than coming back to The Elephant’s Nest. The Wi-Fi is fast, the vibe is calm and the fridge probably has a coconut waiting.

I created The Nest to be a space where remote work meets wellness and where your yoga mat feels just as at home as your laptop.

Come flow with us in Bali. 🌿 Check availability or message me directly — I’m always happy to help you plan your stay (or suggest my favorite class of the week).

Udara Bali – Seseh

Just a coconut’s toss west of Canggu, I discovered Udara Bali in Seseh — and honestly, it’s a wellness wonderland.

Sure, the yoga classes are amazing, but it’s the pools and spa area that really stole my heart. This place is not just relaxing — it’s transformational. Between sound healing, massages, and detox rituals, I always leave Udara feeling like my best, most glowy self.
If you’re into deep relaxation with a splash of magic, Udara’s wellness playground is calling your name.
